Manuscript and archival material includes the records of various medical societies, many of them on deposit; some records of the New York Academy of Medicine itself; and a manuscript collection containing medical students' lecture notes; diaries, accounts, case reports, letters, manuscript drafts of books and articles, prescription books, scrapbooks and miscellaneous papers, photographs and artifacts from the lives and careers of various doctors; and records of hospitals. The majority of doctors and hospitals represented have been from New York City.
